My question is on child support.?

When me and my ex got divorced of course she got custody. About a year after are divorce she went to jail I wanted to get the custody over turned but didn't have the money. Then I learned my child support check was being made out to her dad. So here are my questions, shouldn't I have got custody when she went to jail (10 mths) ? My other question is since the money I pay in is being made payable to her dad does that mean he has custody? I live in Arkansas if that helps
