I know nothing about cars and got a Sentra 2008 2.0 SL, can my sentra get rims? how?

can anyone explain to me is putting on rims work? and where? what is 16inch alloy wheels mean? can i put on other 16inch alloy wheels on my sentra? do i need other specific tires for the rims?
