Are people who try to keep "god" in the US Pledge traitors to their nation?

Yes, they defy the First Amendment. Forcing beliefs on people in such manner is tyranny and quite contrary to what the Founding Fathers wanted. The Treaty of Tripoli says our government was not founded on Christianity, and Washington and Adams agreed with it. "God", "Jesus" and "Christianity" weren't allowed to be in the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution, and "In God We Trust" was put on all money in 1956. I won't say the Pledge until "under God" is removed from it, and I wouldn't let my kids say it, if I had any. SiriusB is quite wrong. The Pledge was written in 1892, and it didn''t have "under God" in it until 1954.
